General Description of Position

Under the direction of the Administrative Director, Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator provides performs a variety of assigned technical and professional duties to provide service, support and information to Vice President of Human Resources, and assistance to staff, faculty, students and the public in support of the Human Resources Division. This position may be assigned special projects and/or research assignments to support and improve College practices and ensure College wide compliance with federal, state and local employment requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Knowledge of Human Resources procedures, and personnel transaction processing techniques. Ability to learn to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures and apply them in a variety of procedural situations.
2. Knowledge of Human Resources and College policies and procedures, and best Human Resources practices and techniques. General knowledge of laws/regulations pertaining to Human Resources and employment.
3. Ability to communicate at all times effectively in a positive, respectful, courteous, professional manner and maintain professionalism, patience, and understanding in stressful situations. Skill, tact, and ability using oral and written business communications and business etiquette.
4. Ability to consistently maintain a positive, supportive, and collaborative work style to support the goals, efforts and decisions of the Human Resources division, Administration and College.
5. Knowledge of Performance Evaluation and Management theories, processes and best practices.
6. Considerable ability to effectively, professionally and accurately develop and revise oral and written communications, reports, and documents.
7. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to policies of confidentiality in support of the mission and functions of the Human Resources division and College Administration.
8. General knowledge of survey and research processes and techniques.
9. General knowledge of Employee Performance Evaluations systems and theories.
10. Basic knowledge of classification and compensation systems, procedures, and HR practices.
11. Ability to handle multiple tasks, changing priorities and work in an environment with critical demands to meet deadlines, perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
12. Ability to work independently, accurately, and to prioritize multiple projects with time-sensitive deadlines and follow-up as needed and to work efficiently and effectively with limited supervision in a team oriented environment.
13. Ability to operate Human Resources software, and business software such as MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to operate a variety of software and technology, including the College’s Human Resources Information and Professional Development systems.
14. Must be able to safely move items weighing ten (10) pounds from floor level to 36" high, and possess mobility within the Human Resources Office and campus. Ability to perform repetitive motions such as movement of wrists, hands, and fingers. Perform physical tasks such as opening, pulling, pushing, reaching, carrying, collating, filing, and inserting.
15. Develop a working knowledge of statistics and research methods used in Human Resources management and apply wage and salary determination principles and techniques and the ability to create comprehensive, understandable, professional, and legally appropriate reports and correspondence.
16. Ability to critically review and provide input into the development of program proposals.
17. Ability during peak times and on other occasions to work hours other than the normal workweek including possible evenings and/or weekends.
18. Knowledge and experience in managing, monitoring, and preparing reports of proposals and contracts.
19. The individual must possess the skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Knowledge and experience in soliciting, organizing, developing, writing and presenting professional development programs and proposals.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in the area of Human Resources, or Business, Adult Education, Management, Training, Organizational Development, Communications or a directly related field of study.
2. Two (2) year’s* (FTE) work experience in a Human Resources, Training/Development, Management, Adult Education, Post-Secondary Education, or a professional Business environment directly related to human resources and/or employee training.
*Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Management or a directly related field of study may substitute for up to one (1) year of require work experience.

Desired Qualifications

1. Professional work experience in a Human Resources capacity/position strongly preferred.
2. Work experience in creating, writing, developing and publishing detailed professional quality policies, reports, procedures and communications.
3. Experience in research, data-analysis or surveys relating to Human Resources, compensation, HR policies and/or benefits.
4. Experience in performance management/evaluation.
5. Work experience in conducting employee training.
6. Post-secondary education in Human Resources.

Salary

$41,800/yr.
